Where ASC staff change each part of the website, and how to check that a change has worked.
These pages are for ASC staff who manage the website in Shopify. Each page starts with the screen that owns the value. The same information can often be edited in more than one place, and only one of them is the source that the website reads.

The two editing surfaces
Shopify Admin holds store data. Products, prices, stock, customers, orders, metafields and metaobjects are edited there. A change applies straight away to every theme.
The theme editor holds presentation. Section order, headings, images, button labels and theme settings are edited there. Open it from Shopify Admin by going to Online Store, then Themes, then Customize on the live theme.
Most pages use shared templates. When you change a section in the theme editor while viewing one city page, you change it on every page that uses the same template. Page-specific content, such as the hero image or which sports a city lists, is stored in that page's metafields instead. City and sport pages explains which is which.
Before you edit the live theme
The theme editor saves straight to the live website. There is no draft or approval step.
Shopify also records each save in the developers' code repository. This protects your change from being overwritten by a later code release, provided the developer includes it. If a change you made disappears after a release, tell the developer the date and the page, so they can restore it from that record.
For a larger change, ask a developer for a preview theme. You can then make and check the change without customers seeing it.
Checking a change
Open the website in a private or incognito browser window. A normal window may show a stored copy of the old page for a short time.
For anything that depends on camp data, check a city page, the matching sport page and the camp's own booking page, because each reads the data in a slightly different way.
If something is not showing as expected, use Runbooks.
